Dave's Cupboard: Pickled Lamb's Tongues

This gentleman took it upon himself to produce home made pickled lambs tongue and they look great! My mouth is watering just looking at the picture of the finished product. Of course I am a person that is pickled crazy, pickle it and I will eat it!

We have looked at making them commercially but unfortunately in our part of the country pickled lambs tongue is a product that is nearly unknown. The expense to make them commercially requires a good market locally and we do not have that in Wisconsin.

We will continue to search for a commercial producer and if we find one we will definitely stock them.

The link to Dave's Cupboard Blog is below which gives great instructions on how to do it at home. Just a note of caution, be sure to refrigerate any homemade pickled products for safety.

We have a new product this month at http://www.longlakefoods.com/ Smoked, pickled, Cajun Style Pickled Sausage available in the 32 oz. net weight - 1/2 gallon size jar.

You can check out our newest addition to the Long Lake Pickled Foods line at http://www.longlakefoods.com/productdetails.aspx?id=192

We have our cajun pickled sausage at a fantastic introductory price that can't be beat!

This is a cajun spiced smoked pickled sausage that is not to hot but has great cajun style seasoning with vinegar pickled kick!

Give it a try and while you are there check out our country style pickled eggs, they can be found at http://www.longlakefoods.com/productdetails.aspx?id=32 They make a great compliment to the cajun pickled sausage and they have a great sale price on them also!

Pickled Lambs Tongue

I have been getting many emails regarding a previous post about pickled lambs tongue. Unfortunately I have received no leads in the direction of finding a current producer of pickled lambs tongue. The Rogers Company appears to be the last to produce this unique product and they went out of business about 5 years ago.

If anyone has knowledge of a company currently producing pickled lambs tongue please email me at info@longlakefoods.com and we will be sure to stock it.

If you are looking for pickled eggs, pickled pork hocks, pickled sausage or pickled turkey gizzards we have you covered, come visit us at http://www.longlakefoods.com/ and we will be sure to fill your pickled food needs.

In a Pleasant Pickle

I found an interesting article in the Milwaukee Journal that waxes nostalgic about old fashion pickled foods and the corner tavern. According to the article pickled food consumption has seen a decline since the demise of the corner tavern. We have noticed a similar trend in our wholesale business as we sell mostly to taverns.

Help us change the trend and come visit us at Long Lake Specialty Foods.
